League of Legends has 130 million monthly players. Duolingo has 100 million daily users. Someone finally combined them.
Launched in March, Porotective turns League of Legends training into Duolingo-style lessons and has already reached the Top 100 for Productivity across 20 European countries.
The main Instagram account found its format early. Each video opens with a real game scenario, asks viewers what they’d do next, then reveals the correct answer inside the app’s Duolingo-style lesson.
One version reached 1.3M views in March.
A few months later, around mid-June, the team expanded into a 17-account UGC network across Instagram and TikTok, with creators using handles like @nameplaysleague to immediately signal the niche.
The standout so far is @michaelplaysleague, who hit 500K views on June 16 by opening with “YO Duolingo just dropped a League of Legends course” before cutting into the app demo.
@bibiplaysleague took a different angle.
Her June 8 video, “told her I wanted a League duo so she started doing this every night,” shows his girlfriend secretly learning League before revealing the app.
The video reached 634K Instagram views, appealing to couples where only one partner already plays League.
The UGC campaign is only a month old, but it’s already producing multiple 500K+ videos.
For players trying to get better at the game, “Duolingo for League” is a much easier fit for short-form attention spans than sitting through a two-hour YouTube guide.
