$10K MRR in Two Weeks With a Controversial Feature

A new AI flight tracking app is growing fast with a controversial feature.

Launched around two weeks ago, FlightDeck is already closing in on $10K MRR.

So far, the team is running four social accounts in total: one Instagram page and three TikTok accounts.

Instagram was the first channel to show real signs of momentum.

On March 9, 2026, they hit 334K views with a video built around one specific feature:

“why did nobody tell me you can watch your pilots text live?”

The format was simple: a shocked reaction on a plane, followed by a quick app demo.

That same angle also started gaining attention on TikTok, where it quickly became a bit controversial.

The comment section filled up with angry pilots saying the app should be shut down, which only made the feature feel more real to viewers. The team replied by saying the information is public, but the feature still sits in a clear gray area from a user perception standpoint.

FlightDeck appears to be using a hard paywall model. Until a very recent negative App Store review, users were not even offered a free trial. They would download the app and immediately be asked to pay somewhere between $20 and $50 to access it.

FlightDeck found a curiosity-heavy feature people instantly react to, turned it into a simple social hook, and paired it with a direct paywall from day one.

Whether the product feels smart or questionable, the result is the same: they got to nearly $10K MRR in about two weeks by building the entire strategy around access to something people feel like they were not supposed to see.
