Most apps in this category sell career progress. YAP Notes sells crisis, and the results show the difference.
The app has existed for a year, but consistent posting only started three months later. Two isolated videos show up in October, but the real push for growth begins in November.
Creators follow the exact same script:
- They film a tense call with their boss.
- The boss demands they return to the office or they’ll be fired.
- The creator records the call using the app.
- And ends with: “Take this to HR.”
“POV: your crazy boss wants to change your remote job to an in‑person position, asked to return to the office” → 72.8K views
While YAP Notes focuses on “record your boss so you don’t get fired,” the top apps in this category take the opposite approach.
Competitors like Proactor AI position the product as a tool to help with interviews and landing a job. And that opposite strategy is the one pulling in over 100M views.
YAP Notes, meanwhile, doesn’t have any videos that break past 72.8k views.
If the winning strategy is about getting hired rather than getting fired, YAP Notes may need to rethink its angle.
