When Content Replaces The App

After just 161 days on the market, the Scentify Perfume Advisor app is already standing out for using AI to suggest and organize personalized scents.

The app has two TikTok accounts that together have gained 51.7M views.

The videos use a Seymour-style slideshow, with each slide showing dozens of top perfumes from a specific category.

They also make slideshows specifically targeting a male audience, with each slide showing a famous actor and a set of handpicked perfume recommendations.

Similarly, they are also making videos for women, usually starting with a Pinterest photo of a woman and the same interesting, catchy hook: “stop wearing perfume like a man.”

Even though the videos get good engagement, the app hasn’t had many downloads. It could be one of those cases where the content cannibalizes the app, since they serve pretty much the same purpose: educating viewers on perfume choices and habits.
