A simple app that counts sushi pieces just hit 100K downloads, powered by a TikTok trend plus creator partnerships.
Sushi Score launched in Feb 2025 and grew without ever needing a big creator army.
The app is now ranking strongly in Food & Drink in Spain and Italy, which makes sense because that’s where the trend has traveled the furthest. The content loop is basically a game you can play at any sushi place.
The format is Expectation vs Reality, but with a twist. At the start of the meal, friends or couples type a prediction into the app for how many sushi pieces they think they’ll eat.
After the meal, they reveal the real number and compare it to the prediction.
Some of the biggest clips don’t even feel like “ads” because they’re framed like normal hangout content.
For example, @martinaabiagi hit ~3.1M views despite having a tiny following.
At the other end, bigger creators like @iindaralopeezz_ have also posted versions, pushing the trend into mainstream reach.
Either way, it worked because it’s a repeatable little game people actually want to record.
The reveal is satisfying, the friend competition is built in, and every person who tries it ends up posting an unpaid ad without even thinking of it that way.
