A single founder is quietly building two apps aimed at solving the same problem: modern loneliness.
Ashley Pokorski, a young U.S.-based entrepreneur, is the founder of Soir and Going Solo.
She launched Going Solo in January 2023 to help solo travelers connect.
Just 2 months ago, she introduced Soir, an app designed to bring city dwellers together for calm and meaningful gatherings.

Going Solo began posting on Instagram in 2023, as mentioned in this article.
Several creators appear in multiple videos.
he posts generally follow three main video formats on instagram.
Format #1 – Quick clips
6–10 second videos with a minimalist hook and an app CTA, using screenshots or video.
“How did you meet all those friends in Koh tao?”-> 3.5M Views
Format #2 – Image sequence
10–15 Pinterest travel images, each lasting 1–2 seconds, with a static hook overlay and no CTA.
“life’s too short to be mysterious. be wildly obsessed with the things and people you love.”-> 590.1K Views
Format #3 – Movie/TV clips
Short videos using popular series or movie scenes, often featuring aspirational characters, similar to Format #1.
In December 2024, the app introduced new TikTok accounts featuring different creators.
The TikTok videos with the highest views come from the @goingsolo.app account, but they are not fully organic.
“wonders if I’ll meet any new friends in Australia”->3.4M views
“I want to travel the world but no one to go with”->3.9M views
“Omg imagine if someone made a Tinder but only for matching with other travelers going to the same place as you ….”->2.1M views
Soir has 8 accounts and has already accumulated 37.6 million views.

Unlike Going Solo, her strategy focuses primarily on TikTok.
Most of her Soir videos feature close-up shots with a hook focusing on city loneliness and bringing women together through a supportive community.
“calling all girls in NYC who wanna meet news friends”-> 1.844K views
Most of the app’s creator accounts are fake ,they’re all managed by the founder posing as different people.
However, the only app account that was getting views is the real founder’s account, @ashleyanne.p, where she posts videos for both apps.

Here you can clearly see how the hooks differ.

| “Why isn’t there a Tinder but for finding a travel buddy?!?2 | “people who travel are literally superior. i made a group called ‘Interrail Europe’ on GoingSolo and over 35 people joined within one day, and people were saying they’re down to book in the next 5 minutes, meanwhile my friends back home are still “thinking about planning a trip together next fall” |
| “I want to travel the world but no one to go with.” | “if you want to be the most interesting person in the room here’s a secret: SOLO TRAVEL. imagine telling people u sent it to asia by urself with a backpack??? like YES. used to think it was so scary but i found this app that shows people going to the same destination at the same times so now i literally make friends before i even get there. this is ur sign.” |
| “The best memories are the ones that don’t go as planned…” | “Fall themed dinner party ideas” |
Even with a two-year gap between the two apps, both have only about 5K downloads.
