New Reel Blocker App Hits #7 in France Through… Reels

Icare is a new mindful browser for social media that helps you focus.

It removes addictive features like Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

It launched on September 12 and already got 8,000 downloads in the last 30 days. It’s starting to catch on in French-speaking countries.

On November 11, it reached #7 in Social Networking in France.

Icare was created by Louis Delmas, a Paris-based consumer app designer and developer who also loves music.

His team is now running 7 accounts, 4 on Instagram and 3 on TikTok.

• delmaass (2 founder accounts)
• rose.icare (French UGC; 3 accounts)
• shareicare (main page; 2 accounts)

So far, only one account has gone viral — the founder’s Instagram.

There, he posts long headshot videos in French, explaining how he built an app that blocks short video content and how using it improved his life.

With so many people hooked on Reels, Icare positions itself as a simple fix for that habit. And by showing his face and consistently featuring the product, Louis is giving the app a clear identity.

For now, the content is only in French, but the upside is big.
