Genmoji Wave Lifts AI Emoji App to $100K MRR

Gmoji is an AI emoji-maker app that helps people create custom emojis and reaction stickers.

Users can type a prompt, remix existing emojis, or blend emojis into photos.

Last month, the app hit $100K MRR and passed 200K downloads.

Apple’s Genmoji feature made AI emojis mainstream, then the iOS 26 cycle triggered a viral wave of “custom emoji” demos.

One example: “When iOS 26 gets too real” hit 9.5M views on September 20, 2025.

The comments were packed with people on older iPhones asking how to do it.

That was Gmoji’s opening.

They started posting similar videos and pointed viewers to their app.

On September 28, they reached 13M views with this hook:

how to create genmojis if you have old iPhone 11, 12, 13…

Then, on October 1, 2025, they hit 56M views with another hook:

emojiholic

Note: some of these view totals include paid amplification, so treat them as blended (organic + paid).

Even after the Genmoji trend cooled off, they kept getting views by turning trending shows and events into emoji content.

On December 3, 2025, they pulled 2.4M views with a Stranger Things spin:

PICK YOUR STRANGER THINGS EMOJI

Their best performing hook styles were “How to,” “Pick your,” and “emojiholic.”

Gmoji launched in 2024, before Apple’s Genmoji push, and used the platform shift as distribution fuel instead of getting wiped out by it.
