Airbnb’s CEO Brian Chesky has talked about many times how they’re a design-first company.
In the design community, they’re known for starting the flat UI era (and ending it).
So, obviously, we were eager to break it down.
We found that:
- The UI mixes multiple design languages (unsurprisingly).
- The motion design is excellent: smooth range sliders, satisfying haptics when closing panels, and beautifully staged image reveals.
But also, that some interactions feel inconsistent.
