How TurboLearn reached 4M users – TikTok MasterClass 1/2

TurboLearn went from zero to 4 million users. How?

With this purely organic TikTok and Instagram playbook that has already generated more than 400 million views, spread across a constellation of over 100 creator accounts and about five hyper-tuned viral formats.

One of their main formats has been everywhere this past week: “What’s ur GPA?!” routine.

A single creator posted 15M views videos all shot in a single afternoon, using the same actors, the same question, and the exact same catchy TikTok dance.

After the hook, the follow-up: “What do you use to study?”

Two students reply “my notes,” and a third casually drops “TurboLearn plus my notes,” closing the brand CTA in under 10 seconds.

We have tracked 101 TurboLearn accounts over the last 12 months. The company, launched in 2023 after a $750K seed round, has relied almost entirely on this kind of UGC to reach its current level of 4M users.

Other formats work just as hard. The team borrowed the “I made a website called…” meme from another study app and remixed it into “I made a website called ???? x LeBron James the professor”. They paired it with learnwithlebron[.]com, a landing page that turns PDFs into “brain-rot” flashcards.

One creator (the only white guy in their creator mix) pulled 1.5 million views with a different hook: an “exam ritual” promising that you can skip studying and still score high grades. That video was reposted across at least 4 accounts and has pulled over 30 million views in total.

Then there is the manifesting grades trend:

“I’m about to manifest the best grades for you, so you’d better be listening.”

One video alone crossed 10 million views. TurboLearn rode this wave for about 4 weeks in May.

They’ve also successfully tried faceless & recycled content, with the “Harvard professor” and other “fake news” formats.

This is only Part 1 of our TurboLearn deep dive.

Tomorrow we will break down the rest of their viral formats, share a full dataset of winning hooks, and map every account driving the surge.

Stay tuned.
