Ludus is a recent AI language‑learning app, but its growth story doesn’t look like the usual “language app on TikTok” playbook.
Even though the brand has only existed for four months, its TikTok presence has been active for much longer.
They already had a website, and @ottodo_, one of Ludus’ main creators, has been creating content on TikTok since 2024.
His growth didn’t come from the usual language‑learning formats. No lessons, no vocabulary bits, nothing that looks like a traditional language app.
Here’s an example:
“pov: your cousin could win the beabadoobee lookalike contest” → 2.2M views, 544 comments
Otto launched a running series documenting how he’s building the Ludus app, and that is when engagement finally exploded.
“LUDUS EP 02” → 299.8K views, 3,334 comments
“LUDUS EP 09” → 273.9K views, 1,658 comments
People comment on these videos like they’re attending a class.

But this format attracts people who want to build apps, not learn a language, which might explain why downloads haven’t followed yet.
