A simple app for checking a room for hidden cameras just hit $40K MRR.
Peek lets you do a fast “something feels off” scan for secret cameras and other recording devices.
It’s made for hotels, rentals, and any place you don’t know well.
The app also hit 40K downloads in the past 30 days.
This niche does not feel like it was built for easy social content, but Peek found a UGC play that worked, and drove over 9M views across 25 accounts in summer 2025.
@travelwithandreea5 hit 2.3M views with a simple strategy.
A short, crying selfie video with a “You think you can hurt me?” long hook.
Another ambassador, @detectionmodewith, hit 1.3M views.
Her hook started with “nothing can embarrass me anymore.”
The pattern is clear.
Dramatic hooks about discovering hidden cameras, often tied to someone close to them such as parents or a boyfriend, to trigger emotion and keep people watching.
@travelwithpolly4 pushed it further with a selfie alongside her boyfriend and an even longer hook.
That one hit 730K views.
Outside the UGC wave, Peek’s official TikTok also landed 400K views with a clean app demo.
They show a faceless clip of a recording device found in a hotel shower handle, then show the scan inside the app.
“How do you know if your AirBNB or hotel room has hidden camera?“
These videos make viewers feel uneasy and unsure, which leads some to download the app and scan their own rooms.
