When a meditation app from 2009 is making $2M/month with 100K downloads and still decides to build a TikTok creator network, it’s not random.
Insight Timer is currently sitting at #82 in its category.
But 2024 introduced a threat they couldn’t ignore.
10 years after launching, Mesmerize – Visual Meditation appeared, and in 2024 it started creating a buzz on TikTok with highly visual formats.
Downloads climbed.
Today Mesmerize sits at 40K downloads/month and $100K/month in revenue.
If Insight Timer didn’t move, they’d risk being the next legacy app overtaken by a newcomer.
So they built a network of 20 creators.
Creators are tapping into personal frustrations, most of them triggered by a common factor: men.
“Can any man be honest for a second do you still think about us after the breakup? Because sometimes it feels so one sided like I’m the only one replaying every moment, remembering everything, while somehow becoming the most forgotten person in the world.”->131.3K views, 1071 comments
Same hook again-> 297.6K views, 822 comments
The problem is that nothing else they tried produced organic traction.
“hate how rude i get when im overstimulated. hate how annoying I get when im bored hate how quiet I am when im upset. pink font btw”-> 313.9K views, 12 comments
Insight Timer needs to adapt fast. If they don’t find a view‑driving format soon, they risk becoming the next big app that waited too long to evolve.
