Mixy: A TikTok trend turned viral app

How one guy took a music trend, turned it into an app, and generated over 15M views.

He’s using over 60+ clipping accounts for his AI mobile wrapper…

…and the app isn’t even out yet:

Mixy- Make Mashups is releasing on June 3rd, and the hype couldn’t be bigger.

This is an app that took a viral trend from TikTok/Twitter in 2022-2024, where producers/DJs were mashing up famous songs and turning them into a new song.

You couldn’t log onto TikTok without hearing Adele and Snoop Dogg combined into “Send my love like it’s hot.”

That’s exactly what Mixy does, but no Ableton required. Think of it as a Cronut, but the music edition.

Now, at the touch of your fingertips, you can be the next Kaytranada.

Its founder, tt@mixyjoe, released his first video on February 13th of this year.

But, ol’ Joe isn’t weak. He kept going, and 1 week later…

First banger. 13.3K views, a 1:10m video pitching his app.

He then went on to do around 1M views over the next 12 weeks. With his biggest hit at 80K.

I don’t think that was enough for ambitious Joe; he deployed a massive multi-account clipping strategy:

He got over 60 accounts up (likely way more).

Random names, straight from a clipping service (or in-house, hard to say).

And he started going big, but again, I think he struck gold because:

It blew up in Russia/Ukraine.

Straight-up screen recording of the carefully selected mash-up with sound.

A modern pop Ukrainian song mashed up with a traditional Russian “Матушка” (mother figure) type of song.

Culture Clash + Curiosity Hook + Familiarity + Sounds good =

“ЧТО ЭТО” (“WHAT IS THIS”).

Carefully (or accidentally – the line is always thin) designed to confuse and intrigue, triggering more engagement.

The mixing of 2 songs has the potential for endless viral combinations. People love music, and hearing a song they love in a new light or combined with another song they love really gets them excited.

The Mixy Formula:

0 effort + faceless content + repeatable + app watermark directly positioned on top.

This is the format they are using on ALL accounts, except the founder account.

In 7 days they’ve blossomed to 3 million views.
