Imagine if TikTok and TripAdvisor had a baby.
Spoto is a social restaurant tracking app launched in Portugal in July 2025.

Spoto’s strategy relies on the social and discovery aspects of restaurants.
They integrate real TikTok videos into the restaurant discovery process.
They also focus on gastronomic routes for specific local foods.

Performance and The Growth Paradox
Spoto is all about helping users discover restaurants, but the app itself is undiscoverable at the moment.
The app is currently ranked at #113 in Portugal, with a very low download volume.
But the users that end up finding it report a positive change in the way they discover restaurants.
They have a good product, but not enough visibility.

Current growth plan
They are running a total of 8 tiktok accounts but have only done around half a million views.

At the moment they only have 1 active account posting.

She mentions Spoto as “tiktok at the table” in her bio.
Uploading daily short selfie clips with shocked face and different hooks.
Has been trying hooks such as “tinder for restaurants”, but nothing goes viral.

The Portuguese market is small and already crowded by mainstream utility apps.
They could completely change their social growth strategy in order to bring active users into their app.
Ambassadors post few videos, and many go inactive fast.
Investing in “founder stories” and authentic videos could be a better strategy in this case, rather than repetitive UGC videos.
Since they are solely focused on Portugal, turning the app into a trend would be their best bet.
