I bet you thought you couldn’t go viral with your geeky prosumer/dev tool app.
WRONG. This app was able to do it 4 times…
…with 2 formats, 3 hooks & 1 girlfriend:

And because it’s a prosumer tool, they’re likely turning those views into a small fortune:

Panda Extract is a Chrome extension. The website calls their extension- “The Ultimate Web Scraper for any website. Get all the data you need in one click with our no-code Chrome extension.”
Built by Arthur and his girlfriend, Floor. She is actually featured in most of the videos. One is building, the other marketing.
Couple goals achieved:

It all started when..
They uploaded their first TikTok video on 11 December 2024, titled:
“POV: Your girlfriend convinced you to try TikTok ????”
And another one on the same day titled:
“POV: You just launched your first app ????”
Their first videos were only getting about 100-200 views. But they did not give up. 192 videos later, they were able to reach 6.1 million views and a 9% engagement rate. They’re now managing 6 marketing accounts across Instagram and TikTok.
What is their most viral video?
Their most viral video was uploaded a few days ago, and it has already surpassed 1M views.
It’s a redo of their other viral videos, with the exact same format.
This type of video is what made them get most of their views:
Zoom in on the creator using the extension on his laptop screen, with the hook: “This guy is living in 2050 ????” (or another futuristic year).

This is followed by: “Tf is he using ???” ( sips drink and runs extension automation)

At the end of the videos, they zoom in solely on the laptop screen and say their tool name.
They also managed to get a 100K+ on a video with the “hand-over-mouth” format:

In conclusion:
If you’re a geeky dev with a cool nerdy app and don’t know how to market on TikTok:
Find a girlfriend.
In the meantime, you can also use an LLM chatbot that can keep you company in a different way.
