50K Users TikTok UGC Powerhouse

A while back, we covered a new flight deal site that had just started using organic TikTok marketing.

Now, they’re ramping up a bold ambassador program, claiming they’ve got over 500 creators on board and 50,000 paying customers.

We’ve looked into the whole thing for you.

Triips

Triips.com was founded by a 23-year-old McGill University graduate, in Montreal, Canada. He had the idea started the service after mastering the art of finding ultra-cheap airfares as a broke college student.

This personal hobby of hacking airline prices (he’s traveled to over 80 countries on a shoestring) eventually evolved into a startup.

Triips offers a 7-day free trial, after which you pay $8.25/month, billed annually. They claim they’ll reimburse you the full amount if you don’t save over $500 with their flight deals.

It’s a simple process. You select your preferences and home airport (US and Canada only), and every week they send you an email with the best deals.

Advertising on crazy flight deals like $22 for NYC → Toronto, or $187 for Miami → Tokyo.

Hybrid Creator Program

They’re promoting their ambassador program right on their own website.

It’s an interesting setup that mixes a classic ambassador model with an affiliate program at the same time.

Creators earn money for every referral. Once they sign up, they get a unique affiliate link they can use to promote Triips with any kind of content.

10 referrals = $150, 500 referrals = $7,500… and it scales from there.

They’re going after all kinds of creators: big-name influencers, total beginners, and even content writers on platforms like X and LinkedIn.

To join, you have to be based in the US or Canada. Paid ads aren’t allowed.

It feels like a regular affiliate program, but once you’re accepted, you have to go through a training session before you can access your dashboard and referral link. So it’s a bit of a mix.

The application asks for basic info and three required questions:

  • What’s your motivation?
  • What’s your past experience with TikTok and Reels?
  • Share one idea for a viral video (it can be faceless)

Triips claim they already have over 500 ambassadors. We’re not sure how accurate that is, but when we started looking into it, things got interesting.

70 & counting

Apart from a bunch of ghost accounts (likely people who got the link but never posted), we’ve seen around 70 accounts posting regularly.

So far, they’ve brought in 26.9 million views across 3,412 videos.

Decent, but nothing crazy.

All the accounts started posting sometime this summer, but they’re not all the same.

Most of the active ones don’t seem tied to the affiliate program. There aren’t any unique links or codes, just a bunch of bios saying “Building @Triips.”

At first, it seems like these could be in-house creators, but that doesn’t really add up. Having 50+ people “building” the site feels more like a hacky attempt at cracking views with founder-led content produced by actual ambassadors.

The Viral Selection

Creators have been trying out a few different formats, but one clear winner stands out: the shocked UGC close-up.

The top three videos all use this style, and they’re each from a different ambassador.

There’s also one hook that keeps popping up again and again in the posts:

  • “i could kiss the person who showed me this”
  • “I could kiss the flight attendant who showed me this website”

In many of these accounts, this hook has taken the #1 place.

All the videos quickly jump into a website demo, filmed right from a laptop screen.

Another format that works well is when they spotlight a specific travel deal.

One video from five days ago got 2.7 million views, 328K likes, and 960 comments.

It starts with the same shocked, hand-over-mouth look, and the hook:

“wait why don’t people go to ROME for christmas it’s SOOO cheap”

Some accounts have the affiliate link in bio, like this one. No major views, content is a lot more scattered, most accounts stop posting after a few frantic attempts.

All in all, the unique links don’t seem to be driving much viral content (no surprise there).

What’s more likely is that they use the affiliate applications to find the top-performing creators, then reward those based on views and results. Everyone else just keeps posting on their own, at no cost, low risk and low reward.
