This consumer app founder rode a trend to 17.2M views on TikTok.
It began a viral loop across socials and pushed their app to #2 on the app store. Let’s break it down.
BiteSight has had rather low downloads (according to online data) since 2024.

It’s not like they were not testing loads of different formats, it’s just that nothing seemed to spark. But a couple of days ago, they hit jackpot.
On June 19th, the app founder uploaded the same video on IG and TikTok with the hook:
“My brother’s gonna show you the app that he built and y’all gonna like it.”
It generated 17.2M views on TikTok & 520K on IG…
But it didn’t stop there. It circled around and did tens of millions of views being reposted on Twitter by random accounts…

and dozens of times on TikTok/IG…

They rode a trend started by tt@yearningyardies that yielded her account 100M views:
“my boyfriend’s going to show you his collection of […] and you better say something nice about it”

And it translated to downloads and some press:


And, of course, other apps also cloning the idea to go viral:

A while ago, they registered the domain http://betterdoordash.com and all links in the bio send users there. Another good growth hack that ties everything together.
